I will sum up my breakfast experience by quoting one of my dining partners vis-a-vis Nigel Tufnel, “today Medina took it up to eleven!” After our 15 minute wait in line (write your own name on the sheet just inside the entrance), we were seated in this sexy room (cleanest floors we had ever noticed in a restaurant). Drink orders were taken immediately, the lattés were richly delicious.
With the construction of the kitchen finally finished, the menu has now expanded beyond waffles only. Although ‘only’ waffles would have been just fine with me. Nevertheless we were lucky enough to enjoy so much more! I ordered the Cassoulet – fried eggs on top of baked beans with bacon, duck sausage, and andouille sausage served with grilled foccacia and tarragon mustard. Oh. My. Word. My friend ordered the Fricasse – fried eggs on top of braised short ribs, roasted potatoes, caramelized onions, arugula and smoked applewood cheddar. Again. Oh. My. Word.
And because this wasn’t decadent enough for breakfast, a round of waffles had to be done. Personally, I tried the Lavender Milk Chocolate and the Raspberry Caramel toppings. When I bit into the crispy, warm waffles doused with each of these sauces, I had one of those moments where the room recedes, all the sounds around you become muffled background noise and I was ‘at one’ with my waffles. OK, I’m being a bit overly dramatic, but, seriously, I really enjoyed them. Another friend had the waffles with Dark Chocolate and Mixed Berry Compote. By the look of his chocolate-berry-mustached smile afterwards, he also thoroughly enjoyed.
