Rhizome Café

Today I enjoyed breakfast with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. There were many stories to regale, so, I was more absorbed by our conversation than the restaurant. Nevertheless, the space suited us perfectly – a comfortable and easy-going atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive.

Breakfast choices are bent towards the healthy such as oatmeal with dates and fruit and yogurt. Yet, they also have the usual suspects – the likes of french toast, pancakes and bennys. Their unique twist on the benny is a squash sauce in place of hollandaise which I had to try so I ordered the Eggs Rhizomedict. Verdict: tasty. My friend went for the Blueberry Pancakes, which she proclaimed as “excellent”. Top marks for the tea presentation. Small but simple details, such as providing us with small ramekins for our tea bags, make me happy.

Hi Sarah, thanks for visiting! For your vegan/vegetarian interest, I wondered if you were also aware of Bandidas Taqueria on Commercial? See my post.
Happy breakfasting. :)

Can't wait to try a few of these places when we visit next Feb!
Best suggestion for outdoor breaky during winter? Somewhere warm but not with that locked inside feel?

Hi Lauzzzzy, thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments. I am a little stumped about your request for a winter outdoor breakfast destination. I'm not sure where you will be visiting from, but Vancouver is fairly rainy all winter long, so we don't have much of an outdoor dining culture here. Nonetheless, there are plenty of indoor adventures to be had. I hope you have some great breakfasts while you're here. ~ Happy Breakfasting!
