Abigail’s Party

Abigail’s makes it onto my favourites list for three reasons – a creative menu, cozy ambience and friendly staff. Although I know this spot is popular with the neighbourhood locals, I think Abigail’s may be overlooked by others as a breakfast destination. Their loss.

I had a very difficult task choosing from the menu because I wanted at least 4 or 5 different dishes. In the end I was very happy with my Cinnamon Bun French Toast. My mate had the daily special Huevos con Carnitas – crispy tortillas layered with pulled pork, refried beans, sunny-side up eggs, topped with salsa verde. Great flavour.

I don’t know if it was the blanket of snow that dropped last night, but there was an air of joviality in the room, a child-like excitement. And the coffee must be strong, as the staff were quite cheerful for a Sunday morning.

So I woke up this morning on a hunt for a place to take a friend for breakfast in the city and stumbled across your blog. We ended up going to Abigail's Party and it was so good. The cinnamon bun french toast was to die for! I'll definitely be going here again along with trying some of your other favourites. Great blog... I was just saying to a friend the other day that there aren't enough good breakfast places in Vancouver so thanks for hunting them out for me :)

Thanks so much for this blog AND the recommendation to go to Abigail's Party. We had the cinnamon bun french toast, classic egg's benny and waffles and we were not disappointed. The coffee was great, the service was fast and we didn't wait in line at all. The world cup was showing on the two tv's and they didn't rush us out at all even though we had finished our brunch. Overall, I would definitely visit this place again and totally recommend others to the same.

Abigails does the best brunch in town... period. The bison shortrib hash was braised perfectly, adding in caramelized onions was just genious. We also had the huevos rancheros and were not dissopointed by the delicious combinations of mexican flavours and creamy sunnyside up eggs (cooked perfectly, no runny whites here!) The young staff keep it fun and friendly and i was charmed by the bearded chef singing along to bob marley tunes and cooking at a feverish pace. Being that its just around the corner from home, I will be returning weekly.

Hi Charis,
Thanks for stopping by. I'm not sure where the "best" pancakes are downtown, but here are a few of my favourite breakfast spots which serve pancakes:
Joe's Grill on Davie
Deacon's Corner on Main St
The Templeton on Granville

And these don't serve pancakes, but are amazing brunch spots downtown:
Twisted Fork on Granville
Medina on Beatty

Happy Breakfasting!
