The Wallflower Modern Diner

Run by neophytes, a husband and wife team, The Wallflower took over the space formerly occupied by the beloved Aurora Bistro. They have left the decor almost as it was, adapting it slightly to make it their own. The service is no afterthought, however, it was top notch.

Their intention is to bring home cooking, making old-school classics, into a restaurant setting. The breakfast menu includes the usual items, but it’s their specials that seem to shine. Today’s blue plate special was the Sausage Benny and the green plate special was a Veggie Chili Fritatta. I loved the look of some of their dinner menu items, such as poutine, fried chicken and meatloaf. I would have loved to have seen more of these items incorporated into the breakfast menu. I’m a glutton for comfort food!
