Jethro’s Fine Grub

We were driving home last night along Dunbar Street when I spotted it! “Heyyyyyyyy! (Visualize my head turning on a swivel as we drove by.) There’s a new breakfast place!” It was a happy moment.

That happy moment was surpassed by an even happier moment this morning when we visited. “Cute!” was my initial impression. “All right!” was my next thought as I perused the 4-page menu – options such as chicken fried steak, pulled pork omelettes, corned beef hash, huevos rancheros, 4 kinds of french toast and 7 kinds of pancakes!

“Whoa!” was our exclamation when our Gold Rush Pancakes (two giant pancakes stuffed with bananas, caramel and pecans) and Chocolate Chip Banana Bread French Toast (smothered in caramelized bananas and whipped butter) hit the table.

The portions are huge and the prices are low. This place is only 2 weeks old, if I were you, I would hit it before the owners figure out they’ve got it backwards.

Oh how funny! I did the same thing when I saw it this week, and wondered how I had missed it before. I wrote down the name and just googled and found your review. We may try it tomorrow.

There are many great places to eat Breaky in Vancouver. I know you specialize in local places, but there are a couple of BC small chains that are great too.

I like breakfast at Sylvia's restaurant in the Hotel. They have a great selection, their pancakes are fluffy and they have rich coffee.

I also enjoy the selection at White Spot. I just wish they would keep the smoked salmon eggs benedict in the rotations more often.

My daughter likes the Atmosphere at the Knight & Day on Kingsway with the Medieval theme. Their pancakes are HUGE and fluffy, the sausage is meaty and all the food is fresh and filling.

We're a family of five from St. Louis and found your blog very helpful! Thanks for the suggestion -- we just enjoyed Jethro's this a.m. Gold Rush pancakes were mighty tasty.

I was wondering if anyone knows the hours of operation for Jethro's. I am having trouble finding them and I would like to go there as early as possible! :)

Thanks for posting the hours...I have been digging around to see if they had a Web site. Forgot to check their hours of operation last time I was there. I live in the area and LOVE the food at Jethro's. Recently I had the crab cake bennies...Yum!

Nice review. I also visited Jethro's recently and am amazed at their HUGE portions. I also ordered one of their lunch items - the alligator nuggets and was impressed at their tastiness... and culinary creativity. I mean how many places can you name with alligator nuggets??

Just came back from Jethro's with a happy tummy. The rooster pancakes are fabulous (espresso and chocolate folded into the batter, topped by melting whipped cream). I love their banana bread french toast served with glistening sweet bananas. The prices are reasonable and I appreciate the attentive service. I recommend Jethro's to anyone who loves breakfast.
