What is it about retro diners serving up comfort food that makes us all flock in droves to places like Lucy’s? Are we so nostalgic for a previous era that we are willing to wait in line just to experience a glimpse of our childhoods? Yup. The line did move quickly – be aware that the small space is set up to accommodate twosomes, primarily at counter-type seating. Personally, I like sitting at counters, it makes me feel part of a community.
My favourite part of the menu is that you can order breakfast, lunch, or dinner 24 hours a day. We went with the Chorizo Hash and the Lucy’s Scramble (onions, bacon and cream cheese). While we did stick to breakfast this morning, I had my eye on items such as the Fried Chicken Dinner or the Meatloaf Sammy. The next time I need my 80s fix, I’ll be back.
