I love going out for breakfast! I recently moved to Vancouver from Australia and must admit I have been a little disappointed with the lack of variety in The Vancouver cafes/diners we have been to for breakfast. Can you recommend anywhere that might have something other than just bacon & eggs, Bennys and pancakes? Oh and a decent latte!

Hi Nat, welcome to Vancouver! Yes, Canadian breakfast definitely revolves around eggs, bacon, and maple syrup. There are a few unique options that show up here and there, but are usually rooted in another culture.

For example, Vancouver has great dim sum options, such as Kirin. There are also many waffle options, one of my faves being Miura. I find some vegetarian restaurants, like Bandidas also offer outside-the-box options.

As for the latte, I am not the best person to ask because I quit drinking coffee years ago, but you won't go wrong with 49th Parallel Coffee.

You'll have great success if you just look at each place as its own adventure and discover it for what it is.

Happy breakfasting!

Awesome blog! Love breakfast in Vancouver! You should check out El Camino's for weekend brunch at Main and 16th... Also, it would be so awesome if you could please do a "best weekday breakfast". Most places seem to be just weekends. Thanks!

Hi Anonymous, thanks for stopping by. And thanks for the reminder about El Camino's, it's been on my list for a while.

Many places on my favourites list offer breakfast during weekdays, it just so happens that I visit them most often on weekends.

Favourite weekday breakfasts (in alphabetical order):
Acacia Filo Bar•Cafe
Aphrodite’s Cafe
Cafe Medina
Cafe Regalade
Deacon’s Corner
Jethro’s Fine Grub
Little Nest
Miura Waffle Milk Bar
Patisserie Lebeau
Roundel Cafe
The Red Wagon
The Templeton
Yolks’s Breakfast.

Happy breakfasting!

Ooops, delete Cafe Regalade from the weekday list.
